Kai trotted bellow the branches of the tall pines, that casted long shadows across the ground. The earth was littered with pines, both brown and green, that had fallen from the trees above. Her dark coat shaded her perfectly in with the shadows, her yellow orbs fixed on the path ahead. Night was beginning to fall, and had burnt the sky a deep red on the horizon.
Kai was in no hurry, but she loved to run. Her graceful form floated about the forest like an Eagle in flight. Yet it was not an eagle that watched her form from the branches of the pines. A Raven watched her closely, its eyes redder than her own. Its sharp beak pointed down towards her, its yellow talons hooked around the hard branch it sat upon.
Kai knew it was there, but paid it no heed, for the flying scavengers always seemed to watch her, almost enviously for something she hid. The Raven's eyes seemed to pierce through the trees and directly into her.
Suddenly, Kai stopped. For there was a scent on the wind. Perhaps it belonged to one of the wolves she had met earlier, or perhaps a new lupine? She stood still, her tail high in a dominant fashion, her orbs fixed on the direction of the scent.
